It was a momentous occasion as Meacham International Airport marked its centennial anniversary on July 3. The Fort Worth-based hub was celebrated with an official proclamation naming the day in its honor, according to a report from the City of Fort Worth. The proclamation, which identifies July 3 as Meacham International Airport Day, was handed to former Mayor Henry C. Meacham's granddaughter, Lucy Brants, by none other than Aviation Systems Director Roger Venables.
Adding to the festivities, Chairman and Executive Director of the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, Jim Hodgson, while helping to connect with the Brants family, bestowed upon Brants the 2025 Fort Worth Aviation Museum Wings Award. The Brants family, in turn, left their mark by signing the Meacham airplane on exhibit at City Hall—one which visitors can admire alongside a 100-year airport storyboard, as reported by the City News release.
Photographs from the event capture the descendants of Henry C. Meacham in a poignant picture as they received the proclamation – a visual testament to the airport's storied legacy. It's a legacy steeped in decades of aviation development and city history, now immortalized through the official Meacham International Airport Day.
