In a case that highlights the ongoing issue of domestic violence, Sherrod Goodspeed, a 36-year-old Fort Worth man, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to a social media post from the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office, Goodspeed's charges stem from a series of incidents where he pointed a gun at his girlfriend and fired multiple shots.
The most severe of these encounters occurred on October 27, 2023, when an argument between Goodspeed and his girlfriend escalated outside a hotel. Goodspeed reportedly shot at her car as she tried to flee the scene. This guilty plea follows a thorough investigation led by the Fort Worth Police Department, Assistant District Attorney Jasmine Banks, Investigator Kristina Gonzalez, and Victim Coordinator Clara Salvatierra.
The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office expressed its gratitude for the diligent work of its team and the Fort Worth Police Department in securing this conviction. "Thanks to the Fort Worth Police Department for their work on this case," reads a part of the DA's statement.
