Early this morning, a significant collision involving an ambulance and a pickup truck in Orange County resulted in injury and transportation chaos. Troopers have reported that an Apopka Fire Department ambulance, responding to an emergency with lights and sirens on, collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck at the busy intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and SR-414. WFTV reported that this collision, which occurred when the pickup traversed the intersection on a green light, led to the ambulance striking a 2024 Toyota RAV4; however, the driver of the Toyota was unharmed and remained on the scene.

The consequences of the incident were felt by the four individuals who were promptly taken to the hospital following the crash with their conditions yet to be disclosed by the authorities and the root cause of the incident remains under investigation, lanes at the intersection have been closed due to the ongoing investigation and a roadblock was set on the eastbound lanes of Apopka Boulevard, creating an expected bottleneck as traffic snarled around the area, information shared by WESH. Even though the situation caused considerable disruption, the southbound traffic on Orange Blossom Trail still had one lane open, allowing for vehicles to pass. Still, drivers were cautioned to be prepared for delays.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 6 a.m., and despite the involvement of heavy equipment, it resulted in no fatalities at the scene. The Ford truck, also traveling along the westbound SR-414 exit ramp towards OBT, proceeded through the intersection when it was struck by the ambulance, it flipped over, and made contact with an additional vehicle.

While the investigation into the crash continues, the conditions of the hospitalized individuals are pending public knowledge.
