The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called upon to investigate a death in Cook County, according to details released by the agency. In a situation that unfolded early in the morning, local enforcement stopped a vehicle associated with a suspect in a homicide investigation; the incident ultimately ended in the suspect's death, according to GBI.

On the Interstate 75, just south of Mile Marker 34, Daquona Verdale Peede, a 31-year-old resident of Manassas, Virginia, was pursued by the Georgia State Patrol and Cook County Sheriff's Office, this action was connected to a 'Be-On-The-Lookout' alert emanating from Henry County, where Peede was wanted in connection to a homicide case, Peede refused to halt the vehicle, prompting a chase that ended when patrol used a maneuver to halt the car. Following the pursuit cessation, as law enforcement approached the vehicle, Peede resorted to shooting himself; he later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, as detailed by a GBI press release.

The GBI further added that Peede was transported to their Medical Examiner's Office situated in Macon for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. Authorities are treating the investigation as ongoing and have not provided additional details about the homicide case in Henry County to which Peede was allegedly connected.
