Amidst the chaos that broke out in the streets of Holyoke, an arrest has been made following a disturbance that escalated into armed robbery and assault. At a press briefing, Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan reported that the incident occurred last Friday, near Maple Street and Suffolk Street. According to the statements by the Holyoke Police Department, Officers Nilda Hernandez, Steven Negron, and John Leahy responded to the scene where an adult male claimed he was attacked by a trio of men.
The victim, whose name hasn't been disclosed, was purportedly attempting to indulge in crack-cocaine alongside his attackers before the situation turned violent. In his account of the events, he contends he was robbed of his personal effects contained in a bag by two unidentified assailants while a third, Jarad Seery, continued to physically engage him. Officers, upon arriving, assessed the scene and decided to transport the victim to Holyoke Medical Center for evaluation, as reported by the Holyoke Police Department.
The official Facebook post from the Holyoke Police Department details the subsequent arrest of 25-year-old Jarad Seery of Holyoke, found in possession of several packs of heroin/fentanyl. These developments suggest not just an isolated act of violence but a wider context of drug activity in the area.
Seery now faces a string of charges, including Armed Robbery, Assault & Battery causing Serious Bodily Injury, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug, Possession of a Class A Drug, and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. Holyoke detectives continue to investigate the matter, signaling that while one suspect is in custody, there is an ongoing search for the remaining perpetrators, as per the Holyoke Police Department.
