As reported by the HPD, the pros in crime scene analysis showed up to unravel the intricate art of evidence gathering for eager young minds.
With a keen focus on the minor details that can crack wide open a case, these seasoned investigators shared their knowledge on the collection of fingerprints, fibers, and cartridge cases, also highlighting how vital a precise snapshot of the crime scene is, with photos and diagrams being a must, the workshop resonated with the keiki, who not only got the lowdown on the vital aspects of forensic science but were actively engaged in lifting their own fingerprints using magnetic powder, a hands-on touch that no doubt left an indelible mark on their imaginations.
The SIS’s educational visit showcased to these youngsters the significance of meticulous evidence gathering, its role in solving crimes, and the nature of the job that demands vigilance at any hour. The keiki got a slice of this through an interactive fingerprinting activity, which, according to the HPD website, was met with enthusiasm. The SIS team's goal was to educate and possibly spark a flame for future forensic scientists among the children.
