Winds will be calm in the morning and shift to the south in the afternoon. A weather system from the east may increase storm chances on Monday and Tuesday. The Houston Chronicle reports that a high-pressure system "builds overhead by Sunday, bringing a slightly drier air mass and more stable conditions." Some isolated showers and storms may still develop due to daytime heating and sea breeze.
Temperatures in Houston are expected to rise to the mid-90s by Wednesday and may reach 96 on Friday. The Houston Chronicle says, "However, isolated showers and storms cannot be ruled out in the afternoon with the peak of daytime heating and sea breeze interaction.” Forecast models show a trend toward drier and hotter weather, with the agency noting that "increasingly robust and suppressive ridging (of high pressure) is pretty normal as we head deeper into July." Rain chances are expected to decrease by the weekend, but a daily chance of showers and thunderstorms remains, with possible wetter conditions later in the week.
