In what could be described as a stroke of serendipity, undercover detectives from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office were instrumental in rescuing a couple from an overturned SUV last week. The officers, part of the JSO VICE Unit, were on their way to serve a warrant when they came upon the crash on Collins Road near Shindler Drive, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The detectives, despite the pressing nature of their initial task, didn't hesitate to intervene. Working quickly, they extricated the two individuals trapped inside the flipped vehicle. According to the social media post from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Patrol Medic Brooke Mallory, who was on the warrant detail, brought her medical expertise to the fore, assisting the injured parties.
Support soon arrived in the form of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, who provided further treatment to the injured couple, reportedly suffering from lacerations and other injuries. The account further indicates that the detectives resumed their original mission, ultimately serving their warrant.
The social media update from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office concluded with a reminder of the importance of road safety: "Without seat belts and the quick actions of first responders, this situation could have ended much worse."
