In an age where smartphones have become extensions of our being, akin to an extra limb for the connected soul, the act of theft from a retail store strikes a particular nerve, one that the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is keen to soothe. The incident, which occurred last month at a phone store on Beach Boulevard, is now subject to a public appeal for assistance. In a social media post by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the details emerge: "a man walked in, asked to check out a few phones, and while the employee’s back was turned—poof—he grabbed three and ran."
The call for information is not without a hint of humor, as the officers remind the perpetrator that, "even if you’re not paying for minutes anymore, you still have to pay for the phone." This subtle jab, however, does little to diminish the serious nature of the crime, the need for community involvement, remains paramount. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the suspect to call 904-630-0500. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. A cash reward may be available for helpful information.
