Jefferson County Business & Workforce Center is launching a series of free workshops in August aimed at providing job seekers and career changers with tools and insights to advance their professional skills. With topics ranging from artificial intelligence in job searches to mastering remote work, participants can pick up new abilities and strategies for succeeding in today's job market.

One of the workshops, "Hired by Robot: How Basic AI Can Boost Your Job Search" on August 5, will explore how AI can aid in creating compelling job applications and staying ahead in an increasingly digital work environment. Another session titled "Get Out of Your Own Way" on August 6 aims to help individuals recognize and surmount personal roadblocks on their path to success. "It will help workers to build emotional agility and shift perspectives," according to Jefferson County.

The comprehensive list of workshops also includes hands-on training for essential software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Google Docs, targeting those who wish to enhance their technical proficiency. For individuals navigating the nuances of virtual employment, the "Remote Work: Is It For You?" workshop on August 7 delves into the skills necessary for excelling in remote positions and how to effectively present those skills to potential employers.

For those who’ve recently experienced job loss, the county provides a platform for emotional processing and strategic planning with the "Letting Go & Moving On" workshop on August 11. Sessions like "Interviewing for Success" and "Resume Concepts: Tips to Get the Interview" on August 12 are tailored to sharpen the interview skills and resume crafting that can set candidates apart from the competition. With remote work and online presence becoming ever more crucial, the workshop "LinkedIn: A Great Job Search Tool" on August 22, shines a light on utilizing social networks to uncover job opportunities and increase one's visibility to hiring managers. A follow-up session on August 27, "LinkedIn: Maximizing Your Presence", stresses the importance of a strong LinkedIn profile, noting that "50% of hiring managers decide to contact an applicant based on their LinkedIn profile."
