A tragic incident unfolded near Jones, Oklahoma, where a local man lost his life following an attack by water buffaloes. As reported by KOCO, emergency crews were called to the 7500 block of North Henney Road last night, where they found the man severely injured. Despite efforts to save him, the man succumbed to his injuries. The attack-induced fatality was later confirmed by Jones Police Department officials.
The circumstances that led to the man's death began to emerge when News9 reported the victim had recently purchased the water buffaloes at a stock auction on Thursday night. The incident occurred when the man was purportedly baling hay with a friend and decided to go water his animals. After he failed to maintain contact, his friend, hindered by one of the animals, went to check on him, only to discover the perilous situation and to subsequently call for police assistance.
Both animals involved were described as aggressive and ultimately had to be euthanized by the responding authorities. Details about the victim were shared by Jones police, who stated he was a man in his 30s or early 40s. A police presence at the scene yesterday was accompanied by the Jones Fire Department, who joined in the efforts following the alarming call.
Further details and confirmation of the events came from Deputy Police Chief Sony Nohmer, who told KFOR that the victim did indeed die from his injuries. The report also stated that the decision to put both water buffaloes down had to be made swiftly due to the threat they posed at that moment.
