
On Monday, firefighters from the Kaua‘i Fire Department responded to a house fire in Kapa‘a. The fire was put out, but two people were left without a home. According to the County of Kauai, no people were injured, but two pets died in the fire.
A fire was reported shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Hoi Road. Firefighters from the Kapa‘a, Kaiākea, and Līhu‘e stations, along with the Fire Prevention Bureau and the on-duty Battalion Chief, responded to the scene. They arrived around 12:35 a.m. and found the house on fire. Crews worked through the night to contain and put out the flames, which appeared to have started on the first floor, as mentioned by the County of Kauai.
After the fire was extinguished, investigators from the Fire Prevention Bureau began looking into the cause, which is still under investigation. The fire caused about $353,000 in damage to the structure and its contents. Two people were displaced and are receiving help from the American Red Cross. Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 3:35 a.m., as stated by the County of Kauai.
