The Kent Police Department has extended its recruitment efforts to an event geared toward young women transitioning from foster care to independent adulthood. The department's recruiting team, composed of Sergeant Vance and Patrol Officer Bezon, attended the Celebrate 18 event organized by Eileen and Callie's Place, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting young women aging out of the foster care system, as shared by the Kent Police Department.
Mentoring and sharing their personal stories in law enforcement, Sgt. Vance and Officer Bezon spearheaded efforts to introduce police work as an accessible and commendable career path. Eileen and Callie's Place, known for its work in supporting these young adults by teaching life skills and providing educational opportunities, found a partner in the KPD looking to harness the potential these young women hold. According to the Kent Police Department, the organization is "an amazing" entity for bridging the gap between foster care and self-sufficiency.
The department encourages those interested in learning more about a career with KPD to reach out. "If you are interested and want to learn more, send us a private message for info," invites the Kent Police Department.
