A previously convicted felon was arrested in Knoxville after police acted on a Crime Stoppers tip. According to Knoxville Police Department (KPD), the individual was found in possession of drugs and firearms.

Yesterday, Markeius Campbell, age 29, was stopped by KPD officers who, based on an anonymous tip, had reason to believe Campbell was dealing drugs. The officers were promptly able to detect the smell of marijuana in the car Campbell was driving, which led them to search. This search yielded nearly 25 grams of marijuana and multi-colored baggies commonly associated with drug sales.

The anonymous tip came through East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers and specified Campbell as selling narcotics from an apartment at North Ridge Crossing. Following the car stop, a search warrant executed at Campbell's residence on Claudius Road uncovered two handguns. One of these firearms had been reported stolen from Blount County.

Beyond the stolen firearm, officers seized over 330 grams of marijuana and found additional evidence pointing to drug distribution. Campbell, who has a past felony conviction for aggravated robbery in 2014, is now facing several charges. These include a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, theft of a firearm, and possession of schedule VI drugs.

While Campbell is now held accountable by the law, the Crime Stoppers program continues to enable community members to anonymously assist law enforcement. Their contributions can sometimes lead to quickly resolving potentially dangerous criminal activities in their neighborhoods.
