The Nevada Department of Transportation is shifting the traffic pattern on Interstate 15, as part of the I-15 South Widening Project, to pave the way for infrastructure enhancements including profile grinding and lighting upgrades. This development means updated lane restrictions, which will affect the night owls and late commuters. Nevada Department of Transportation's project update specifies that these restrictions are due to remain in place until changes brought on by weather or other factors.
The updated closures will see Northbound I-15 reduced to one lane from Blue Diamond Rd to Warm Springs Rd between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. starting Sunday, until Tuesday, July 22. Before driving, traveling through this segment of the freeway, drivers should check nvroads.com or dial 511 for the latest state highway conditions, making sure not to miss the flyover road from Eastbound Blue Diamond Rd to Northbound I-15 is closed during these times as well, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
The restrictions extend later into the week with similar late-night lane reductions; from Sloan Rd to Starr Ave and from Silverado Ranch Blvd to Blue Diamond Rd, Northbound I-15 will see the squeeze. Meanwhile, Southbound travelers will be down to double lanes from Starr Ave to St Rose Pkwy until Friday, July 25. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in these work zones, and if possible, to take alternate detour routes. Nevada Department of Transportation, partnering with Waze, keeps the public informed about planned restrictions.
A key point to note is the long-term lane reduction on Southbound I-15, which will be condensed to three lanes from Warm Springs Rd to Blue Diamond Rd through July 2025. Motorists should also be aware that until then, Northbound I-15 will have just three lanes open between Silverado Ranch Blvd and Blue Diamond Rd.
