The Lewisville Police Department is opening its doors to residents and workers in the city who want to get a closer glance at what goes into the daily grind of being a police officer. The Citizen Police Academy is back with its 48th class, set to commence on August 28 and stretching till November 6. According to the department’s recent social media push, interested individuals have a small window left to secure a slot in this exploratory journey into law enforcement.
For those with curiosity in their hearts, and time on their Thursdays – precisely from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – the Academy promises some hands-on demonstrations, a peek into crime scene investigations, and first-row insights into the operations of K9 units and the SWAT team.
With this initiative, Lewisville PD seems to aim for an informed community, where learning serves as a bridge for better understanding and cooperation with law enforcement. “Get involved. Get informed. Be the bridge between the community, and law enforcement!” quotes the call to action propelled by the Lewisville PD. The physical location of participation is also cited; the Lewisville Police Department at 1187 W. Main St. encourages locals to take a more active role in their communal peacekeeping.
