The City of Lewisville is currently recruiting high schoolers to join its Youth Action Council, a move that aims to inject a dose of youthful insight into local governance. The application process is straightforward and digital, with the Youth Action Council page on the City of Lewisville's website hosting the necessary forms. Teenagers hoping to make an impact have until August 4 to submit their applications. In a bid to find diverse representatives, the council has cast a wide net, inviting applications from students in public schools, private schools, and those who are homeschooled, provided they fall within the 15-18 age bracket by September 1.
The responsibilities of council members are both varied and vital. "Members of this Council will advise Lewisville City Council members on youth-related issues; assist with special projects and events; research, assess, and evaluate existing youth and community programs; design and plan new youth events and activities to encourage youth involvement in the community; and serve as ambassadors for, and inspire, other young people by completing service projects and sharing their stories," according to the City of Lewisville's announcement. Service on the Youth Action Council lasts from September 2025 through May 2026, with participants engaging deeply in the civic processes that shape their daily lives.
