On Wednesday, a Livermore neighborhood was disturbed by the sounds of an attempted burglary and ensuing confrontation with law enforcement. According to a statement from the Livermore Police Department, a call came in before 2 PM reporting that someone tried to forcibly enter a home near Railroad Avenue and North P Street. The commotion promptly drew police to the scene.

The officers didn't have to look far as they quickly spotted the suspect's vehicle. A patrol officer attempted to tactfully position his car behind the suspect's car to prevent escape, but the intervention escalated quickly. The man behind the wheel brazenly accelerated, slamming into the front push bumper of the patrol car. No damage was reported from the impact.

The driver, who was later identified as 32-year-old Arnoldo Solano Carias, was apprehended without further resistance. During the arrest, it became apparent to the officers that Solano Carias might have been under the influence of narcotics. This suspicion added to the already serious list of charges, including residential burglary, probation violation, and assault on a peace officer. Arnoldo Solano Carias was known to the authorities, actively on probation in Alameda County for a previous conviction related to carrying a concealed weapon.

Following the incident, the Livermore Police Department confirmed the suspect had been booked into Santa Rita Jail.
