A 29-year-old Long Beach man, identified as Alvin Marbra, is facing a multitude of serious charges, including committing sexual assaults and a hate crime, across southern California between April and July 2025. According to CBS News Los Angeles, Marbra allegedly carried out violent attacks on two women and assaulted a man in what is being described by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office as a hate crime.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan J. Hochman, has expressed the severity of the situation, stating, "The details of this series of attacks are incredibly disturbing. My office will pursue every legal avenue to hold the perpetrator fully accountable for these appalling acts." This sentiment was shared in statements obtained by both CBS News Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Marbra's charges include an assault on a 52-year-old woman near the Strand in Santa Monica on April 4, an attack on a 26-year-old man on June 30 as part of a hate crime, and the rape of a 61-year-old woman on July 1 in Long Beach.

The suspect was previously convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Florida in 2021 and now, if convicted as charged, could potentially face 25 years plus 55 years to life in state prison. He would also be required to register as a sex offender for life. Marbra was captured by Long Beach detectives on July 2 and is currently being held in custody, with bail set at $1.275 million per the district attorney's request. His arraignment is scheduled for July 17.

The Long Beach Police Department is calling for any additional victims to come forward in the hopes of serving justice to all affected. Deputy District Attorney Elyse Rendon of LADA’s Sex Crimes Division, who is prosecuting the case, believes there may be more unreported incidents. She encourages anyone with information to contact the Long Beach Police Department’s Sex Crimes Detail. Meanwhile, anonymous tips can be submitted via "LA Crime Stoppers."
