In a startling incident of vehicular recklessness, the Madisonville Police Department reported that a driver was charged with multiple offenses following a near-collision with a police officer and an episode of erratic driving that could have ended in tragedy. The driver, identified as Amanda Hayes, narrowly avoided a direct hit with Corporal Andy Cline, who was patrolling Highway 411 South yesterday morning at around 9 AM. Hayes' vehicle inexplicably swerved across the median, plowed through trees, and surged haphazardly into the Good Shepherd Center parking lot, where volunteers were occupied with food distribution efforts, according to the social media post by the Madisonville Police Department.
The chaotic scene led to Hayes' vehicle colliding with a parked car, which fortunately resulted in no injuries. Yet, the incident was just steps away from a disastrous outcome, as over a dozen volunteers were nearby at the time of the erratic driving incident that unfolded with the same unnerving unpredictability as a storm that strikes without warning, Amanda was subsequently arrested and a variety of suspected illegal substances were discovered in her vehicle, including crystal methamphetamine, multiple prescription medications without a valid prescription, and other items packaged seemingly for resale.
As a result of her actions, Hayes is facing 13 counts of felony reckless endangerment, to say nothing of charges for DUI and various drug-related offenses, including the intent to sell and deliver, as she remains incarcerated with no bond at the Monroe County Justice Center.
