The Alameda County Sheriff's Office has released a statement detailing a significant blow to drug trafficking in East Oakland. Following a lengthy investigation by the Alameda County Narcotics Task Force (ACNTF), an operation in January 2025 led to four arrests and the confiscation of over 30 kilograms of fentanyl. However, this operation did not mark an end to the troubles, as a father-son duo was uncovered to have taken up the reins in distributing kilogram quantities of fentanyl across the Bay Area.

On June 12, the culmination of this investigation resulted in a multi-location sweep, where the ACNTF, supported by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) and the California Highway Patrol, executed search warrants in East Oakland. According to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, three males attempted to flee as officers approached a residence on the 1400 block of 65th Avenue but were successfully captured.

The searches uncovered not only a disturbingly active drug den but also a family home. Detectives entering a 1,000-square-foot residence were greeted by strong chemical odors, indicating an active drug production site. A detailed inspection revealed a room kitted out as a fentanyl lab, complete with mechanical presses, large acetone drums, and white powder that appeared to be fentanyl residue. The presence of a "Money Wayy" imprint on freshly pressed kilogram bricks of fentanyl suggested a customized product for illicit distribution.

Tragically, in one of the bedrooms, officers found a woman with her three-month-old daughter, who was later found to have fentanyl in her bloodstream. According to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, the child was taken to Children's Hospital for medical evaluation and subsequently placed into Child Protective Services' custody. All four adults present in the home were arrested on charges including possession with intent to sell, weight enhancements, and child endangerment.
