A 25-year-old man was in serious condition after nearly drowning at the Walter P. Carter Neighborhood Pool in Baltimore last night. Police and fire officials responded to the incident, which occurred at the newly opened public facility located at 820 E. 43rd Street, according to CBS News Baltimore.
Officials arrived on the scene around 8:40 p.m. and found community members attempting to help the man out of the water. The nearby patrolling Baltimore Police helicopter, known as Foxtrot, decided to quickly land at the back of the school to aid in the emergency. A flight officer from the helicopter began performing CPR immediately, as reported by FOX Baltimore.
The Baltimore City Fire Department subsequently assumed responsibility for providing medical care. Authorities later confirmed that the man was revived and taken to a hospital in serious condition. Notably, the incident occurred after the official closing time of the pool, which is scheduled to shut at 8 p.m., according to the regulations set by Baltimore City Recreation and Parks.
