Central Park in Maple Grove will be more than just a bastion of weekend relaxation this Saturday, as the Maple Grove Police Department sets up camp to support a cause that hits close to home for many. In a post spotted on their Facebook page, the department announced that during Maple Grove Days, visitors can support domestic violence awareness by visiting their tent from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this Saturday, July 19.
At the event, they are debuting a new purple patch, representing their stand against domestic violence. Eager to make a difference, these patches, available for presale at $10 each, excitedly welcome all profits toward domestic violence awareness and prevention initiatives. Not just a splash of color on the uniform, but a symbol of commitment, the Purple Patch Initiative, as relayed by the Maple Grove Police Association, marries civic duty with community support.
For those unable to attend, the opportunity to procure a patch will not fade with the sunset on Maple Grove Days. The Maple Grove Police Department assures that the patches will be up for grabs during Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, providing another chance to show solidarity.
