The healthcare landscape in Massachusetts is beaming with pride as hospitals across the state receive high praise, marking their place among the nation's finest, according to recent reports by WCVB and Mass General Brigham. Specifically, acclaimed institutions like Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) have been honored with top rankings in various medical specialties, including cancer care, psychiatry, and obstetrics and gynecology.
It's no small feat that the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center took the No. 3 spot nationally for cancer treatment, while BWH was also named No. 1 for obstetrics and gynecology and No. 3 for diabetes and endocrinology Mass General climbed to the top for psychiatry – achievements not just for the hospitals but, more importantly, for the patients they serve, these accolades from U.S. News & World Report are a testament to the dedicated teams working tirelessly within these facilities.
Not only did the healthcare behemoths get recognition, but smaller community hospitals within the Mass General Brigham network such as Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital also saw their stars rise in the rankings noteworthy for their specialized care and several treatments amongst the best in the Boston Metro Area and the state which shows a commitment to quality at both the macro and micro levels of healthcare service delivery.
These rankings come on the back of Mass General Brigham's unified patient care strategy, For Every Patient, which has been at the forefront of driving significant reductions in patient mortality rates, which is exciting news for healthcare optimists and professionals alike who see this as an opportunity to further enhance patient care within an already top-tier system according to "Anne Klibanski, MD, president and CEO, Mass General Brigham" who told Mass General Brigham, “This year’s rankings, combined with the progress we are seeing in key quality metrics, demonstrate an exciting opportunity to further elevate patient care as we become a truly integrated system of care.”
