Mayer's car enthusiasts and community members gathered on Saturday for the 16th annual Mayer Car Show & Festival, showcasing classic cars, family entertainment, and an opportunity to shape the future of a local park. In a move to engage with residents, the Carver County Parks team set up shop at the event, held near the Mayer City Hall, to solicit community input for the Baylor Regional Park Long Range Plan.
Between the chrome highlights and nostalgia of pristine vintage vehicles, attendees had the chance to "share [their] feedback" and talk directly with park staff about potential improvements to Baylor Regional Park. According to Carver County Parks' social media post, the event ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and featured more than just cars: Bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals, and The Zoo Man provided additional family fun.
In addition to in-person discussions, Carver County Parks encouraged feedback through their online platform, urging people to "Provide feedback online now by visiting" their website. This initiative demonstrates a blend of traditional community engagement and digital outreach, reflecting an understanding of diverse preferences in communication and interaction within the community.
