According to an announcement on the County's official news page today, the county's free pre-K initiative, which commenced in 2018, is growing in accessibility and availability, promising a comprehensive educational foundation for children across Mecklenburg, at no cost to families.
With enrollment still open, there remains both time and space for more families to take advantage of the MECK Pre-K program, and with the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners having approved funding for an additional 10 new classrooms, the expansion has its sights set mainly on the northern southern, and southwestern regions of the county, reflecting an ongoing commitment to reach children in all areas. The program, open to all four-year-old children residing in the county with a birthdate by August 31 is not limited by family income, providing a blanket pre-K solution.
