
A Memphis man, Roy Ezell Jones, has been found guilty of second-degree murder in relation to the 2022 fatal shooting of his wife, Juanita Jones, as per the Shelby County District Attorney's Office. The Local Memphis report disclosed that the verdict was delivered after a three-day trial.
On the afternoon of January 3, 2022, Jones reportedly confessed to a child at the scene, uttering "I did a bad thing" after a gunshot was heard, the incident that occurred during a domestic dispute within their household on Burnham Avenue, law enforcement discovered Juanita lifeless after responding to the dispute; this series of events led to a pursuit and subsequent arrest of Jones a week later, following his surrender to the authorities said the Action News 5.
Assistant District Attorneys Alyssa Henna and Monica Zimmerman led the prosecution against Jones, who faced indictment for first‑degree murder before the jury determined the second‑degree murder conviction, detailed by Local Memphis; Jones is set for sentencing on August 8, after the guilty verdict was handed down today.
