The city of Mesa is prepping to make a major splash with the announcement of the Hang 110° FlowRider Competition, slated for July 25 at the Rhodes Aquatic Complex. The competition promises to bring together young surf and boogie board enthusiasts, with a chance to showcase their skills and ride the waves in a friendly, but spirited battle for aquatic supremacy.
Divided neatly into age categories, registrants can look to compete with their peers under the setting sun—kids aged 5 to 9 launching their wave-riding escapades at 5 p.m., followed by the 10 to 13 bracket at 5:45 p.m., and rounding out with the more seasoned teens aged 14 to 17 commanding the water at 6:30 p.m. Triumph comes in the form of prizes for the top three finishers in each group, not to mention a standout accolade for whoever manages to spectacularly wipe out in the most memorable fashion.
As a report from MesaNow.org clearly lays out, entry to this event won't break the bank, costing a mere $7. It's an accessible fee ensuring that anyone with the gumption to take on the FlowRider - or simply those wishing to take part in the cheering section - won't be left high and dry.
