The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken concrete steps to combat illegal online gambling by issuing cease-and-desist notices to six operators they say have been illegally targeting Michigan residents. Websites Crypto Slots, NitroBetting, NewVegas, Las Vegas USA Casino, Grand Rush Casino, and Slotgard Casino were found to be in non-compliance with Michigan's internet gaming and sports betting laws. The formal action marks yet another attempt to closely protect consumers within the state's borders, according to an announcement from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

"These sites were attempting to exploit Michigan players while operating outside the law," MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said, per MGCB. "We take this seriously. When unauthorized operators offer games without regulation, Michigan players are left exposed—and we will not tolerate it." The cease-and-desist letters demand that the accused platforms immediately stop offering gambling services to Michigan users or face potential legal consequences.

Operating without a license in Michigan invites numerous risks for players, such as the lack of assurance of payouts, the chance of participating in unfair games, and having nowhere to turn in the event of fraud or disputes. Williams emphasizes that, unlike sanctioned operators, these unlicensed sites "offer no consumer safeguards" and are accountable to no oversight bodies, putting players at risk of various harms.

As part of a broader effort to strongly suppress illegal gambling within the state, the MGCB vows to continue its proactive monitoring and enforcement. They urge the public to double-check the legitimacy of online gaming platforms and to only engage with authorized operators listed on the Michigan.gov/MGCB website.
