The Michigan State Police are once again vying for the aesthetic spotlight in a nationwide contest organized by the American Association of State Troopers. The competition, which seeks to find the "Best Looking Cruiser," has entered its 12th year and is calling for public participation to determine the most striking state law enforcement vehicle on American roads.
Supporters of the "Blue Goose," as the MSP patrol car is affectionately known, are being urged to cast their votes before the deadline on July 11, 2025, at noon Eastern time. According to Michigan's official government website, voting can be completed through various channels, including SurveyMonkey, the AAST Facebook page, or directly on the StateTroopers.org website.
The competition showcases law enforcement agencies and their vehicles against the backdrop of American iconography, and this year, Michigan's entry features a 2024 Dodge Durango captured in front of the storied Mackinac Bridge. The MSP hopes to improve on their ninth-place finish from the previous year and earn a coveted spot in the 2026 “America’s Best Looking Trooper Cruisers” wall calendar, which will feature the top 13 photos, as determined by public vote.
Funds raised by calendar sales are set to benefit the AAST Foundation, which facilitates educational scholarships for the children of member troopers. Those interested in supporting the initiative can look forward to calendar availability starting this October at StateTroopers.org.
This competition, which spans across the United States, presents an opportunity for community members to engage with state police in a unique, and strictly visual, manner. The contest has been described as a "friendly competition," signaling a departure from the often tension-filled interactions that can characterize the public's relationship with law enforcement.
