Drivers in southwest Milton should be prepared for a major traffic pattern change set to happen later this month – the intersection of Cox Road, Etris, and Ebenezer Roads is transitioning into an all-way stop. The initiative is a safety measure taken by the City of Milton in response to a spate of accidents and ongoing safety concerns on this stretch of road.
According to an announcement by the City of Milton, this all-way stop is expected to be operational by July 14, weather permitting, other unforeseen circumstances could affect this date though. This isn't a permanent fix but an interim measure aimed at facilitating safer passage for drivers who have been either trapped for long intervals or taking risks when entering Cox Road from the adjoining roads.
This changeover comes ahead of the planned roundabout at the intersection which is seen as the long-term solution to the traffic woes, its construction is estimated to start between 12 and 18 months from now. Meanwhile, the city has chosen not to delay the implementation of an intermediate solution for the sake of public safety.
Expect additional road signage to sprout up to guide motorists through the new stop procedure but do note, confusion is a standard side-effect when it comes to alterations in traffic flow, people should be doubly cautious during the initial roll-out phase as not all drivers may be aware of or adjusted to the new stop signs; and therefore it is crucial for contributions to help make Milton's roads safer by being patient and understanding during this period, as per the city's official announcement.
