Milwaukee is on high alert as authorities issued an Amber Alert late yesterday for 7-year-old Jamal White who was reportedly abducted on the city's northwest side. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jamal was last spotted at about 7 p.m. near his home on the 6200 block of W. Hustis Street when an armed suspect forced him into a white Jeep Renegade.
Witnesses described the abductor as a male donning a black hoodie and a black face mask, as reported by WISN. Police are yet to release a license plate number for the vehicle, but a surveillance photo of the Jeep was provided. With the boy described as critically missing, a designation Milwaukee police use for those deemed especially vulnerable, the urgency of the situation could not be clearer.
The search for Jamal has the community deeply concerned, with local police and residents coming together to aid in the recovery of the young boy. "Critically missing" may be a label applied by authorities, but behind it lies a palpable unease that echoes through the hearts and streets of Milwaukee—a city all too familiar with the specters of violence and loss, as mentioned on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Authorities are describing Jamal as an African American boy with black hair and brown eyes, weighing 80 pounds and standing four feet tall. He was last seen wearing a white tee and black shorts, as per information obtained from Spectrum News 1. The details of the suspect remain scant, save for his attire and the firearm he brandished at the time of the abduction.
