Minneapolis City Hall has welcomed back Jason Chavez and his team after an extended period of operating out of a temporary location. Chavez, the representative for Minneapolis Ward 9, announced the return to the historic building via a social media post, detailing the move of his office back to City Hall, situated at 350 S 5th St, Minneapolis, MN 55415. "After more than a year in our temporary office space at the Public Service Center (PSC), we moved back into City Hall again," Chavez stated.
The council member's new office is now set up on the third floor in Room 370. Despite the excitement of the relocation, the transition has been met with minor obstacles. Chavez mentioned that there is still ongoing construction, making it challenging to navigate the space. Consequently, committee and full council meetings will continue at the PSC for approximately another month. Chavez further hopes that by the end of August, the construction will be complete, ushering in a return to normalcy.
Chavez and his staff are eager to settle into City Hall, expressing enthusiasm about sharing the newly refurbished space with constituents. "We’re excited to show you all around!" Chavez remarked while underscoring the substantial effort involved in the move back to the permanent office. Potential visitors to the new office are advised to prepare for the current disarray resulting from the ongoing construction.
City Hall, an establishment steeped in the history of Minneapolis governance, is seeing a resurgence of political activity with the return of Chavez's office. Ward 9 constituents, who have undoubtedly felt the displacement of their representative's office, can look forward to better accessibility and direct engagement in the heart of urban policymaking. Chavez encourages the public to reach out with any concerns or questions as his office resumes its presence in the core of Minneapolis' political landscape.
