In a social media post, officials have confirmed that Boiani left the island voluntarily. Expressing gratitude, the department thanked the public for their help during the search.
Initially, Boiani was last seen leaving his home in Kihei for a walk on Monday and did not return as expected. The search for Boiani had been broadened to include nearby areas after his immediate vicinity provided no clues to his whereabouts.
Characterized as 5-foot-9 and weighing 145 pounds, Boiani is bald with brown eyes. When he went missing, he was said to be wearing black and grey shorts, and his shirt color remained unknown. The Maui Police Department had released a photo of him from 2020, urging anyone with information to come forward.
During the investigation, authorities were unable to reach Boiani, as his cell phone was turned off. The Maui Police Department has not disclosed the reasons for Mr. Boiani’s departure from the island or provided further updates on his status.
