Time is ticking, but there's still a chance for voices to be heard in the Minnesota construction industry. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has extended the deadline for a key survey aimed at improving worker experiences and safety on highway-heavy worksites. According to a recent bulletin, the new deadline for workers to submit their responses is now July 13.
This push for feedback marks a collaborative effort between MnDOT and SDK Strategic Services, who are conducting the needs assessment survey. Workers currently or previously employed in the industry are urged to participate. As the bulletin states, their responses are meant to stay anonymous, with assurances that "no one from individual companies will have access to workers' responses." Only the overall trends and themes from the survey data will be shared.
The survey itself is said to be a brief investment of time, taking approximately 10 minutes to complete. The insights gleaned from this survey are crucial; they are expected to inform MnDOT's strategy for enhancing the workplace environment. Employer participation is also being solicited, with suggestions for tactics such as posting QR-coded flyers on project boards, including the survey information in paystub envelopes, and integrating the details into digital correspondence and meetings.
For workers who speak Spanish or Somali, the survey has been made accessible in their respective languages as well, with links provided in the bulletin. For anyone needing further information or clarification regarding the survey, SDK Strategic Services can be contacted directly via the email [email protected]. This outreach initiative is a testament to MnDOT's commitment to fostering a safer and more inclusive construction sector.
