Early morning traffic in Memphis was disrupted by a three-vehicle collision that resulted in injuries to a police officer and two women. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident occurred around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Raleigh Lagrange Road and Appling Road. As per Action News 5, the crash involved a Memphis Police Department (MPD) squad car, a Compass Intervention transport van with four teenagers aboard, and a third, unspecified vehicle.
Additional information gleaned from a FOX13 Memphis report remarked that the Sheriff's Office has yet to release details concerning the cause of the accident or to rightfully assign fault. Meanwhile, first responders attended to the scene where they found three adult women in need of medical attention, including the MPD officer, all of whom were quickly transported to local hospitals in non-critical condition.
As the community breathes a collective sigh of relief, it is reported by Local Memphis that none of the teenagers who were in the transport van, associated with Compass Intervention—a mental health clinic for children and teens—were injured. The Shelby County Fire Department took one woman and the MPD officer to Baptist Memphis Hospital, while another woman was taken to Regional One Hospital.
After the crash, Raleigh Lagrange Road was temporarily closed in both directions at Appling Road, disrupting normal traffic. Officials advised drivers to take Mullins Station Road as an alternate route. The road remained closed while investigators examined the scene to determine what led to the accident.
