Earlier this month, the Good Will Fire Company responded to a medical emergency in the New Castle area where crews faced more than just the immediate task at hand. According to a Facebook post by the fire company, Ambulance B18 and Engine 18 arrived on scene to find a patient with severe injuries necessitating quick transport to a hospital however, complicating the scene was the presence of the patient's young child.

Demonstrating an understanding of both urgency and the human element, the crew administered the necessary medical care while simultaneously tending to the emotional needs of the young family member. They were explaining what was happening and providing comfort amidst the chaos, as reported on social media by the Good Will Fire Company. After B18 left for the hospital, Engine 18 crew members showed an exemplary level of compassion and community spirit by engaging the child in a game of ball and giving him a cool tour of the inside of the fire engine, all while waiting for the New Castle County Police to reunite the child with other family members.
