Allan Scorer flew from Newcastle upon Tyne to Philadelphia in April 2024 to celebrate his 40th birthday and attend WrestleMania XL at Lincoln Financial Field. A migraine came on in the stands, where he suffered a seizure. The Philadelphia Inquirer later reported that the experience and the Eagles’ response helped turn Scorer into a lifelong fan.
Scorer asked stadium workers for ear plugs and a quiet room as the migraine set in, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Lincoln Financial Field has had a dedicated sensory room since 2019, designed by medical professionals in partnership with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and KultureCity. The Eagles renovated the 500-square-foot room on the stadium's West Lower Suite Level in September 2023 and describe it as a quieter, more secure space for guests who may need one. That description explains the room’s purpose; it does not establish what caused or treated Scorer’s seizure, according to the Philadelphia Eagles. WrestleMania XL drew a combined 145,298 fans across its two nights that April, making it the most successful event in WWE history, as Business Wire reported at the time.
A week after returning home to Newcastle, Scorer emailed the Eagles to thank them and say he had become a Birds fan for life, the Inquirer reports. He began following the team from the U.K.; soon, he decided to give the upstairs bar at his own venue an Eagles-themed makeover.
From Little Buildings to a Birds Nest
Scorer co-owns Little Buildings, a grassroots live-music venue in Newcastle's Ouseburn Valley that he bought with his father. He turned its upstairs bar into an Eagles gathering place, with team flags and games on TV every Sunday, according to the Inquirer's reporting. The venue serves cheesesteaks from a local spot, adding a Philadelphia touch to game days.
The gathering has its own name: Ousebirds, a nod to both the Ouseburn Valley and the Eagles. Little Buildings remains a busy music venue through the week as well as a place for fans to watch games, according to the Inquirer.
A Venue With Its Own Survival Story
Little Buildings has a history of its own worth noting. The roughly 60-capacity space relocated to Stepney Bank in 2019 after facing redevelopment pressure at its original Ford Street location, according to Chronicle Live. Last October, the venue was chosen as one of three UK grassroots music spaces selected for Music Venue Properties' Own Our Venues campaign, a community ownership drive that uses crowdfunding and investment to purchase venue buildings and lease them back at affordable rates, the outlet reported.
The Eagles gatherings are an addition to Little Buildings’ wider role as a live-music venue, where music events remain central to its work.
Scorer Keeps Coming Back to Philadelphia
Scorer returned to Philadelphia in January 2025 for the Eagles' NFC Championship Game against Washington. He tailgated outside Lincoln Financial Field before watching the win at a Center City bar as the city celebrated another trip to the Super Bowl, according to the Inquirer.
Now he recruits fellow Ousebirds to watch the Eagles with him back home, and this week gives him fresh reason to gather the crowd. The Eagles play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on October 11, one of three games the NFL is staging in England during the 2026 season. Prior to this matchup, the Eagles had played two previous regular-season international games, beating Jacksonville 24-18 at Wembley Stadium in 2018 and topping Green Bay 34-29 in São Paulo, Brazil, in September 2024 — the NFL's first-ever regular-season game in South America — according to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The NFL's Global Push Keeps Growing
Sunday's game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium follows Indianapolis-Washington on October 4 and precedes Jacksonville-Houston at Wembley on October 18, rounding out the league's October London slate, per NFL.com. The Jaguars have carved out a particular niche in England, becoming the first NFL team to play back-to-back London games in a single season in 2023 and repeating that double-header format this October, according to DAZN. Ahead of the game, team mascots SWOOP and Union Jaxson held a joint fan event on the lawns of London Zoo on Friday, the outlet reported.
The Eagles have been expanding their own international footprint under the NFL's Global Markets Program, which grants franchises marketing rights outside the U.S. The team added marketing rights to Brazil in 2025 alongside existing territories in Australia, New Zealand, and Ghana, part of a league-wide effort that now spans all 32 clubs across 22 global markets. The NFL's International Series has grown to nine regular-season games across seven countries in 2026, including first-time games in Melbourne and Rio de Janeiro alongside contests in London, Paris, Madrid, Munich, and Mexico City, according to Roadtrips.
The league's U.K. following remains strong enough that NFL insiders have floated the idea of London eventually getting its own franchise, the Inquirer notes. For now, though, Scorer's corner of that following stays rooted in a 60-person room above a Newcastle music venue, where Ouseburn Valley's gritty streets meet Philadelphia's Birds, one Sunday at a time.
