Reports indicate that crews had to use chainsaws to open the roof and contain the inferno, with efforts lasting over an hour and a half to douse the fire and residual hot spots.
The extensive firefighting response included more than a dozen units, brought to bear engines, ladders, and support teams seeking to control the fire. As confirmed by The Waterland Blog, the rigid foam insulation within the home's roof structure complicated the situation, necessitating aggressive tactics to knock down the flames. With no injuries to report, the cause of the fire still remains a mystery awaiting investigation.
Meanwhile, a simultaneous and unrelated conflagration confronted firefighters in Puyallup. As flames engulfed an apartment complex at approximately 2:45 a.m., crews were met by a two-alarm fire igniting violently from one of the units. Situated on Ninth Street S.E., the fire demanded a swift and muscular response from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue’s Engine 73, supported by contingents from East Pierce Fire & Rescue and Riverside Fire & Rescue. The operation was poised to ensure that flames would not leap through the attic spaces, spreading to adjacent units.

"The fire was kept to the originating unit with minimal damage to the adjoining units," reported fire officials in a statement obtained by MyNorthwest. Despite the dramatic conditions, firefighters succeeded in their containment efforts, and like the Normandy Park incident, no injuries arose from the blaze.
