Culinary arts met health education at the North Ridgeville Senior Center yesterday, as community members gathered for a day dedicated to wellness and Alzheimer's awareness. The center played host to a "Healthy Cooking Demo and lunch," led by Chef Vinnie Cimino and backed by Food Conscious, a collaborative initiative with Ridgeville Farms. Attendees had the chance to indulge in the dual pleasure of devouring nutritious food while learning how to recreate these beneficial meals at home.
According to a post on the City of North Ridgeville Government's Facebook page, the event was well attended. Post-meal, representatives from Barton Communities were present to openly answer questions about Ridgeville Farms, ensuring that the seniors had an opportunity to fully understand the local farm's role within their food-conscious community.
The day also featured Ashleigh from Vitalia, who presented on the significance of a healthy lifestyle in potentially mitigating the risks of dementia. Her informative session highlighted the crucial connection between diet, physical activity, and cognitive health, providing attendees with actionable knowledge that could potentially guide them to improve their own well-being. "Thank you to everyone who joined us for this fun and meaningful day focused on wellness and connection," the City of North Ridgeville Government's post read, encapsulating the event's spirit of community bonding over shared interests in healthier living.
