Trade winds over Oahu will weaken slightly as high pressure moves northeast of the islands. Humidity levels are expected to rise, keeping the Keetch-Byram Drought Index in Honolulu below 600, which means the fire risk is lower but still present. The National Weather Service states, "While conditions are not favorable for fire concerns, it is worth noting that any unintentional spark could lead to a fire and to remain vigilant when recreating outdoors during this transition period."
Passing showers are expected to continue through the week, mainly over windward and mauka areas. Trade winds will remain moderate to locally breezy. Most flights will experience VFR conditions, but brief periods of MVFR may occur during showers. An AIRMET Tango remains in effect for moderate low-level turbulence over and downwind of island terrain, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory for all Hawaiian coastal waters until on Wednesday morning. The advisory will continue from 6 AM on Wednesday to 6 AM on Thursday for windy areas near Maui and the Big Island. Strong trade winds are expected to affect marine conditions. A south swell will continue through Thursday and may increase by the weekend, raising surf along south-facing shores. East-facing shores will remain rough due to ongoing trade winds.
