Property owners in Oak Ridge can expect property tax statements to arrive in mailboxes this week. In accordance with state law, city officials have mailed notices to the address on record as of January 1. However, some statements may not reach their intended recipients, often due to recent property transactions, as noted in a city announcement. The city emphasizes that non-receipt of a tax notice does not exempt anyone from payment responsibilities or penalties for late payment.
If property tax statements have not been received by July 31, Oak Ridge property owners are encouraged to take action by contacting Tax Specialist Christopher Beavers at (865) 425-3404 or by visiting the City’s website at tax.oakridgetn.gov to view tax information online. The deadline for payment is August 31, with interest beginning to accrue on any unpaid balances starting September 1.
The City offers several convenient options for settling property tax payments, all detailed on its website. Payments can be made online, in person at the Utilities Business Office (UBO) located at 200 S. Tulane Avenue, via the overnight drop box in the UBO parking lot, or by mail to P.O. Box 1, Oak Ridge, TN 37831. Credit and debit card payments are accepted with a 2.75% convenience fee, while eCheck payments carry a flat $1 fee per $5,000 paid.
