Ohio's governor, Mike DeWine, has made a new addition to the University of Cincinnati's Board of Trustees, announcing Larry Sheakley, CEO of the Cincinnati-based firm Sheakley, as the latest appointee, a move that's garnered both attention and admiration within the community, Sheakley has been a familiar face in Cincinnati's philanthropic circles, particularly around education and regional development initiatives.
Monica Turner, the UC Board of Trustees Chairwoman, welcomed Sheakley's appointment, citing his commitment to Cincinnati and his entrepreneurial accomplishments, "Larry’s dedication to the Cincinnati community and his entrepreneurial spirit make him a tremendous asset to UC," Turner expressed in a statement obtained by the University of Cincinnati News, affirming confidence in his ability to contribute positively to the university's trajectory.

UC President Neville G. Pinto heralded Sheakley's deep passion for the institution and broader educational landscape, "We are honored to welcome Larry Sheakley to our Board of Trustees," Pinto said, as quoted by the University of Cincinnati News, noting that not only his enthusiasm but his wealth of experience will bolster a board that is "already deeply engaged in the success of current students as well as future learners."
