Michael Jaden Ybarra, 22, went missing while swimming in the Deep Fork River and was found dead downstream on Saturday morning. The Oklahoma City Fire Department and other teams searched for him starting on Friday afternoon but had to stop due to dangerous water conditions. The search continued on Saturday, leading to the recovery of his body. Major Ryan Hill said, “We have all the things we need if we were able to see a live victim to get to him we could have got to him, just not the case today,” according to KFOR.
The Luther Fire Department offered their condolences in a social media post. "We are saddened to report that the search for the missing man in the Deep Fork River has come to a close. While the outcome is tragic, we hope it brings a measure of peace and closure to the family and loved ones affected," was the message conveyed via Facebook, as per information found on KOCO.
Ybarra's body was found with the help of an Oklahoma City Police drone during a coordinated search operation involving several agencies. The search had stopped the previous evening and resumed the next morning. "They did suspend the search yesterday evening, and they resumed it this morning at 8 a.m., and we had an Oklahoma City police drone up, and fire was on the scene as well, along with some surrounding agencies that were assisting," Sgt. Rob Robertson told The Oklahoman. The search took nearly three hours on Saturday.
