An Oklahoma City woman, Michele Watson, 59, tragically drowned in Lake Eufaula last week, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. Watson was operating a tritoon boat and decided to take a swim, an act that would mark her final moments in the lake's encompassing depth. According to News9, Watson was not wearing a life jacket at the time she entered the water and ultimately did not resurface.
The incident on Friday afternoon saw Watson aboard the vessel along with five others including a 4-year-old child. KOCO noted that all the passengers on the boat were from Oklahoma City, and none other than Watson were reported injured. The Highway Patrol has dealt with 13 fatal incidents over the recent weekend, a statistic in which Watson's passing is grimly counted.
Details from KTUL indicate that several passengers were aboard the 2025 Crest Tritoon boat driven by Watson. The passengers were identified as 26-year-old Danielle Perijatel, 34-year-old Brennen King, 25-year-old Gillian Perijatel, 25-year-old McKenna King and a 4-year-old male minor. The drowning incident is said to have occurred around 1:38 p.m. last Friday, July 25.
OHP's investigation into the unfortunate event is ongoing. After Watson was recovered, she was transported to a local funeral home.
