The Oklahoma Main Street Center, a division of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, has announced the finalists for its upcoming annual awards. The 35th Main Street Awards Banquet, scheduled for September 30 in Oklahoma City, will recognize local programs and individuals from across the state for their contributions to revitalizing historic commercial districts.

More than 170 entries were submitted across 24 categories aligned with the Main Street Approach, which focuses on Organization, Promotion, Economic Vitality, and Design. From this broad and varied pool of submissions, panels of external judges have selected finalists for the final round of consideration. The chosen entries were evaluated for their impact on business development, job creation, and preservation of local character while contributing to overall community progress.

A variety of outstanding endeavors will be honored, with specific awards including acknowledgement of exceptional board members, the Watonga Bob Shoemaker Award for local program director of the year, and the designation of the Local Program of the Year. In a statement obtained by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, finalists and winners will not only be recognized for their contributions but also for their impact on economic vitality.

"These awards recognize the outstanding achievements of Main Street programs, local businesses, volunteers, and community leaders who are working every day to breathe new life into Oklahoma's historic commercial districts," Buffy Skee, director of the Oklahoma Main Street Center said in the press release. She also emphasized the point of these recognitions: "Each nomination showcases how local efforts are generating meaningful economic impact through business growth, job creation, and revitalization."
