Action News reported that two men became the latest victims of a drive-by shooting while they were simply sitting on the front steps of a home on the 5500 block of Walton Avenue.
A dark-colored sedan harbored the unidentified assailant who unleashed a tempest of bullets towards the unsuspecting individuals, according to police, a 33-year-old man could not survive the hail of bullets and his life ebbed away, while a 49-year-old man, now hospitalized, battles the aftermath of a wound to his right leg. The car, and its occupants, responsible for this heinous act disappeared into the night, leaving behind a trail of grief and unanswered questions, the quick response of law enforcement was not enough to immediately apprehend the perpetrators or to forestall the tragedy that had already taken root.
As NBC Philadelphia detailed, the critically hurt man endured shots to his torso and leg, which plunged him into a fight for his life in the hospital; meanwhile, his counterpart, although in stable condition, must grapple with the physical and psychological wounds inflicted by that rogue bullet.
Despite the rapid transport of the victims to Penn Presbyterian Hospital by police, and with a 33-year-old in critical condition, the search for answers hobbles forward, FOX29 noted that investigations are ongoing and the motivations behind the shooting are yet to be discerned.
