Over a span of three days, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, alongside Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Nassau County Sheriff's Office, carried out an undercover operation that led to the arrest of more than 30 individuals linked to crimes such as prostitution, narcotics trafficking, and illegal gun possession. The inter-agency sting targeted networks associated with sex trafficking and child exploitation, uncovering disturbing incidents of minors soliciting and being coerced into sex work.

According to a social media post from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, these operations are part of a wider effort to dismantle criminal activities that threaten the welfare of the community. Alarming trends were revealed during the sting, with some individuals reportedly engaging in sexual acts despite being aware of their sexually transmitted diseases, and juveniles being found actively participating in the sex trade.

"Prostitution and associated crimes have far-reaching consequences, often involving coercion, trafficking, and other illegal activities," said Sheriff Robert Hardwick. Sheriff Hardwick emphasized the importance of the operation, asserting, "This operation demonstrates our commitment to protecting our communities and holding offenders accountable. I am proud of our staff who were involved in this operation, and we are grateful for the partnership with JSO and NCSO," as per the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

The collaborative effort utilized tactics aimed at identifying and apprehending suspects through intelligence-based strategies. As reported by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, these strategies included undercover work and inter-agency cooperation, leading to not only the arrests but also prompting separate investigations into human trafficking and child exploitation by the Northeast Florida Inter-agency Child Exploitation and Persons Task Force (INTERCEPT).

The focus on public safety remains steadfast with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, as they encourage residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity to SJSO or local law enforcement agencies.
