The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office recently shared information on social media about its Safety Town program, an initiative designed to teach basic safety skills to children preparing to enter kindergarten. Conducted in collaboration with the Northern Ozaukee School District, the program involved SRO Valente and several guest speakers who spent a week covering various safety topics. These included when to call 911, bus and traffic safety, awareness of strangers, a tour of the Sheriff’s squad cars, and instructions on how to use a fire extinguisher.

The event, as outlined in a social media post by the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, included practical safety exercises for children and involved participation from local authorities, community volunteers, fire departments, and highway personnel. These participants provided time and expertise to support the program for young residents of Ozaukee County.

The Sheriff's Office expressed appreciation to all who participated: "The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office extends a heartfelt thank you to the incredible NOSD staff and student volunteers who helped plan and generously donated their time to make Safety Town a fantastic experience." The post also acknowledged the contributions of dispatchers, the Fredonia Fire Department, the Fredonia Marshal, Just Snip It, and the Ozaukee County Highway Department, all of whom took part in the program’s implementation.
