In a move to combat an intricate scam, the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Bureau of Criminal Investigation is calling on health care providers across the state to dig through their staff records. They are on the hunt for traces of Shannon Nicole Womack, a suspected impostor who may have slipped into the roles of nurses under various guises. As reported on the official state website, Womack is accused of hoodwinking her way into nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities, using at least 10 aliases. The roles she falsely claimed include licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), and registered nurse supervisor.
Her tactic was allegedly a twofold ploy. She is thought to have fabricated credentials and documents that she presented to staffing agencies, and even conjured up an LLC, all to place herself in healthcare jobs across Pennsylvania. Each stint, according to the state's announcement, was brief.
Womack has been charged with securing nursing positions by submitting fraudulently signed documents and creating a false LLC for employment deployment. The PSP, teaming up with the Department of Health, the Department of State, and a roster of district attorneys and states, is diligently putting the pieces together in their ongoing investigation.
Investigators have a list of aliases that Womack reportedly used, and they are asking healthcare agencies throughout Pennsylvania to review their employment history for any potential overlaps. Facilities that may have unknowingly employed the accused under her numerous assumed identities are urged to contact the PSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Detailed information on the aliases used by Womack can be found within the state's press release.
